Robin has worked for Katz & Associates for almost 19 years. Since 1997, Robin has provided community outreach, construction relations and project information management for the Southern Nevada Water Authority's $2.8 billion Capital Improvements Program serving the greater Las Vegas Valley. Projects include numerous pumping stations, large-diameter pipelines, a water treatment facility, two new water intakes and a raw water pumping system, each requiring a unique community and media relations strategy and approach. Prior to her assignment in Southern Nevada, Robin served more than eight years as on-site public information manager for the City of San Diego Metropolitan Wastewater Department. In this role, she handled community relations, public information and media relations for the multi-billion dollar upgrade and expansion of the region’s sewerage system.
Robin has authored numerous papers for water, wastewater and engineering associations (WEF, AMSA, AWWA, ASCE), with titles such as “The Beauty of Biosolids: Starting Early with Public Education,” “Keeping the Public in Public Works Facilities Planning,” “Training Engineers to Speak Plain English,” “Tales from the Trench” and “Community Outreach-SNWA Style.” Her recent speaking engagements include the Construction Management Association of America National Conference and the American Water Works Association.
Robin earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley with an emphasis on journalism and creative writing. Prior to working for Katz & Associates, Robin was a free-lance writer for Copley News Service and worked for the Australian Tourist Commission through a Bay Area public relations firm.
