Derek Danziger joined Katz & Associates in 2017. He is responsible for oversight and strategic direction for the firm’s three offices and almost 40 employees. Derek has nearly 25 years of strategic public relations, marketing, media relations and communications experience, primarily in the public sector, development arena and for major events, and is well-known in the San Diego business community. Prior to joining K&A as the firm’s president, Derek served as a vice president at Nuffer, Smith, Tucker (NST), where he successfully developed and launched the firm’s Public Outreach and Community Relations practice. Before his work there, Derek served as vice president of marketing and communications for the former Centre City Development Corporation (the City of San Diego’s downtown redevelopment entity), media center director for LEGOLAND California, director of media & public relations for the Super Bowl XXXII Host Committee, and a manager in SeaWorld San Diego’s education department. He has managed communications efforts for numerous major and often complex development projects and civic events in diverse communities throughout the region.
Derek is actively involved in the San Diego business community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Downtown San Diego Partnership, the Public Policy Committee of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Committee of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation. He is a past board member of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and an alum of LEAD San Diego. Derek is a graduate of UC San Diego and past president of the San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. In 2006, Derek was named PR Professional of the Year by the San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Derek is also professionally accredited in Public Relations.
